INDICTMENTS RETURNED IN FEDERAL COURT-SOUTH BEND

 

 

 

South Bend, IN—The United States Attorney's Office announced that a Grand Jury sitting in South Bend, Indiana, returned the following Indictments on March 9, 2011:

 

Bruce A. Davis, 19, Goshen Indiana, was charged in a two-count Indictment with one count receiving a firearm while under felony indictment and one count possessing stolen firearms. These charges were filed as a result of an investigation by the Elkhart Police Department, Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Donald J. Schmid.

 

Brett Keiling, 46, Granger, Indiana, was charged in a two-count Indictment with one count of knowingly assault and offer violence to an internationally protected person, a member of the staff of a U.S. Congressman and one-count of threatening an employee of the United States with intent to intimidate and interfere with the performance of official duties. These charges were filed as a result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kenneth M. Hays.

 

Derrick B. Little, 25, Knox, Indiana, was charged in a two-count Indictment with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and one-count of possession of a stolen firearm. These charges were filed as a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John M. Maciejczyk.

 

William M. Pope, 42, Logansport, Indiana, was charged in a one-count Indictment with failure to register as a sex offender. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the United States Marshal’s Service. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John M. Maciejczyk.

 

Kristi A. Weaver, 30, of Mishawaka, Indiana, was charged in a four-count Indictment with two counts being a felon in possession of a firearm; one count of being an unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm; and one count of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine. These charges were filed as a result of an investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, Mishawaka Police Department, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Donald J. Schmid.

 

The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

The United States Attorney's Office emphasized that an Indictment is merely an allegation and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
